The Meyersiek family became the owners of the facility as early as 1865 and have remained so to this day. The importance as a grain mill became less and less in the 1960s, and the final end came around 1970. The Steyerberg watermill can look back on a century-long history as a production site. It was first mentioned in 1245 as "Vogedie Molen" (vogtei mill). During this long time, the mill always had enough water for the formerly two medium-sized water wheels. In its more than 760-year history, the Steyerberger Mühlenanlage was used in a variety of ways as a grain, oil and grinding mill. This bridge over the floodplain is one of the 125 oldest stone bridges of this type in Germany.
It is a three-arched stone bridge that was built in 1726 on behalf of the then Elector of Hanover, George I. It spans one of the two arms of the “Aue” river that flows around Jacobi Island.
