The Apollo Grannus Temple was opened to the public in 1987 as an open-air museum.
This imposing structure of 1000 square meters is the largest Roman temple building north of the Alps. The excavations not only uncovered a double columned hall, a podium temple with a vestibule and ramp, but also the foundations of neighboring large buildings, where the Roman roads leading to Faimingen converged in a forum.

The name of the temple is an example of a migration around 2000 years ago:
His name shows the merging of the Greek-Roman god Apollo, who was responsible for the art of healing, with the Celtic god of springs and baths, Grannus. The religious-political endeavor to bind the Celto-Romanic population living in Raetia through the Roman Empire is also visible in the magnificent Roman building. Source: lauingen.de
