A small jump was later built for the youngsters and one of the first snow cannons was even used on the adjacent downhill slope. In the sixties there was the three hill tournament in Bad Urach, Laichingen and Herrlingen, Degenfeld stepped in as a substitute if there were ever snow problems.
After several winters without snow, the importance of the Herrlinger Schanze later declined, because television moved into society, offered different entertainment and the junior jumpers became smaller and smaller. With the demolition of the ski jump in 1969, a regional ski jumping history came to an end.
