    The Town Hall, whose construction dates back to 1370, has been classified as a Historic Monument since July 3, 1900.
    For nearly 650 years, the building has been dedicated to the administration of the city. The foundation stone, engraved with the date 1370, is still visible in the Hall of the Patron Saints, on the ground floor.
    It was only in 1848 that the Town Hall took on its current exterior appearance, under the direction of the architect Antoine Ringeisen: the north-east facade of the building dated 1523 and the balcony from 1604 were then preserved.

          In today's town hall, the remains of a building resting on archways (arbors) in which the citizens' court met (1370) have been preserved. In 1848 the building was expanded in the neo-Renaissance style. The facades, decorated with painted motifs, were restored in 1992-1993.

            Today's landmark of the city used to fulfill a triple function: city tower, watchtower, bell tower of the Chapel of the Holy Virgin (built around 1285, demolished in 1873), of which the Gothic choir is still preserved today. With its spire it reaches a height of 59.60 m; the gallery with its corner turrets was added in 1596.
