The fort, founded in 1661 or 1662, is located in a dominant position over the Atlantic Ocean, close to the mouth of the Douro River. It is also known as Cheese Castle because it was built on a rounded granite rock, which looks like a cheese.

On this beach, you can see a fortress from the Middle Ages and, obviously, it is possible to bathe, sunbathe or simply relax. A good place to come with family, friends or children. The beach is golden sand and has many rocky areas. Although it is not guarded and does not have many support infrastructures, it is worth visiting for its beautiful landscape. If you are looking for a quiet corner by the sea in Porto, Praia do Castelo do Queijo is an excellent option to enjoy nature and history. 😊
