Fort bij de Liebrug is located on the Haarlem-Amsterdam railway line, the oldest railway connection in our country. Although it is located right next to this busy track, it is partly hidden from view by a row of poplars. The fort, which is owned by Recreatieschap Spaarnwoude, was popularly called 'Fort Knox', a reference to its many years of function as a money depot. Casa Fortezza is located on the fort and contributes to the 'La Vita é Bella' feeling with its Italian wines, olive oil and balsamic products. You can come here every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM or during special wine tastings.

The Fort at the Liebrug is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. It is a model A fortress. The engineering shed is still present, but the fort keeper's house has been demolished. The fortress at the Liebrug was formed to defend the access by the railway, the canal and the road between Amsterdam and Haarlem.
