Today's palace complex goes back to a Niederungsburg built by Ministeriale in the 12th century. It developed from the 16th century when the three branches of the family began to expand and convert the Ganerbeburg into a castle. This resulted in three palace wings, the "Red", the "Blue" and the "Yellow Palace", which are almost completely grouped around an almost square palace courtyard (Wiki).

The castle of Tann used to stand on today's castle site, and the two octagonal towers, which enclose the castle on the city side, are probably built on its base. The castle is privately owned and can therefore only be viewed from the outside.
The remarkably beautiful baroque palace fountain from 1686 is adorned by four water-spouting bronze brown trout, the heraldic animal of the von der Tann.

The Tanner castle complex consists of the "red" (from 1558), the "blue" (from 1574) and the "yellow" (from 1699) castle. The 3 colors not only symbolize different construction phases, but also the three lines of the von Tann family.
