The Scharnitz Nature Park Information Center has existed since October 2019. Three important valleys of this massif begin in Scharnitz, the western gateway to the Karwendel: the Karwendel, Hinterau and Gleirschtals.
The modern timber construction of the information center, built according to plans by the architects Benedikt Pratl, points towards this mountain world with its soaring lines. The structure of the information center finds a counterpart in the Museum Holzerhütte next door. The small wooden house from 1913, which originally served as temporary living quarters for woodworkers in the region, was transferred here from another location. The location of the entire ensemble is the "Länd", a former landing place for the trees felled in the three valleys on the Isar, which flows along here, only a few kilometers from its source.
