    The Emma Monument is a statue in Middelburg, dedicated to Queen Emma. The statue is by Henk Etienne and is located on Damplein. The statue is made of limestone and depicts the queen seated on a chair. The coat of arms of Orange-Nassau can be seen on the left of the chair, and the coat of arms of Waldeck-Pyrmont on the right. The pedestal is formed by three steps. On the front of the top step is the text The Netherlands is great in everything in which even a small nation can be great. At the back, the text on the back of the chair reads: in memory of Her Majesty QUEEN EMMA, 1858 - 1934, founded by the residents of the province of ZEELAND, unveiled by H.M. Queen Wilhelmina, September 6, 1937, h.j. etienne sculptor.

    Etienne had initially submitted the design for this statue to the municipality of The Hague. However, the jury opted for Toon Dupuis's design. His Monument for Queen Emma was realized in Benoordenhout in The Hague.
