This is the Gassman Coulee trestle, located approximately three miles west of Minot. A total of 1,792 ft. At its tallest point, it is 117 feet high. In addition to freight, also carries Amtrak Empire Builder trains. Built in 1899 after strong winds (one source said a tornado) in 1898 caused the collapse of two-thirds of the original bridge.
The road up to the bridge is paved. If on a road bike, you can go left just after the bridge up a nice 1.3 k climb at 5% grade. Alternatively you can continue straight up the valley road, which will turn to gravel and climb up out of the valley.
