In good weather, a very nice view of Oberstdorf. If that's not enough for you, you can do a round tour over the Gaisalphorn and Gaisalpfuss from there.

The ascent to the Rubihorn is a worthwhile thing. And to all who are not experienced alpinists - I am your man. :-) Because I'm not, actually I'm pretty untrained and yet I dared the trip to the Rubihorn. And yes, it's exhausting and yes, it's high (if you do not know it and you're used to it). But hey, I did it, and if I can do it, everyone can do it. :-) However, it should really be free of heights, because the last section is actually associated with some climbing. In addition to one and z.T. behind one goes down accordingly. However, no separate equipment is required. The descent has it again in itself. My thighs were celebrating a party when we were back down. :-)

From the summit of the Rubihorn you have a fantastic view of the Nebelhorn mountain range, the Gaisalpsee, Oberstdorf and the snow-capped peaks of the Allgäu and Tyrol.

Slightly more crowded than the neighboring Gaisalphorn, but easier to reach. Nevertheless, good footwear, sure-footedness and a little head for heights are required.

Was on August 25th, 2021 from Oberstdorf through thealtenbachtobel on the Rubihorn. Very nice climb. There were more hikers on the summit than in the pedestrian zone in Oberstdorf. After two minutes I got down again because I couldn't find a place. The summit was also in the fog, so that I also had no distant view.

Strenuous but worthwhile climb.

A head for heights is essential from the lake! Fear of heights can be dangerous up there. Paths are narrow, in places you need your hands to move, and you have a strong view down below. Safety equipment on the lake side is sparse. We saw a lot of inexperienced people turning back on the way up.

Very busy on warm summer weekends. It's worth going here during the week, when the weather is a little bad and quite early if you want a little more peace and quiet.

We ascended over the Gaisalpsee on June 1st, 2020. In itself it is a very nice tour, but it was full because of Pentecost + good weather. Not full, but abnormally full, so that we really had to worry about falling rocks and had to queue up or overtake in many places. If you do this tour, it is best to choose a day during the week.
BTW: If the parking lots are full, you shouldn't park on the street. The cars were given parking tickets there in rows.

Fortunately, there is the Deinenkopf and other promising mountains nearby. I now only visit the Rubihorn outside of the holidays or on a free day during the week or now in winter under "difficult" conditions :) (Status: 12/2020)

Magnificent view of Oberstdorf!

In the season there is a lot of hiking here - not for people looking for mountain solitude!

On July 9, 1987, a rock fall occurred on the north side of the Rubihorn, in which between 10,000 and 15,000 m³ of rubble fell into the valley. The traces of this event can still be seen from afar.

Wonderful view of Oberstdorf and the Ifen.
