The Peperbus is a late Gothic tower in Zwolle belonging to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption. "Pepperbus" is actually the nickname of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren, which the tower owes to its shape, which resembles a peppercorn. This tower is the symbol of the city of Zwolle. Just like Utrecht has the Domtoren and Groningen the Martini, Zwolle has its Peperbus. Together with the Sassenpoort it is the city's logo and still dominates the Zwolle skyline. Until 1669, the 113.5 meter high Michaelsturm was the highest point in the city.

The present church was built in four phases. The choir was built in the years 1394 to 1399.
