      The Hämmelsmarsch fountain at the eastern end of the Grand-Rue on the "Roude Pëtz" (Place du Puits Rouge) was created in 1982 by sculptor Wil Lofy and represents a band with sheep. The accordion player is actually a self-portrait.

      The fountain sculpture represents an old Luxembourgish tradition. The song "Hämmelsmarsch" by Michel Lentz was once played by bands in their villages to invite the community to the fair and announce the arrival of fairgoers. Sheep were once carried in the parade, hence the name. Today, sheep have virtually disappeared from parades everywhere. However, the custom is still alive at the large Schueberfouer folk festival.

                This beautiful little fountain features a sculpture of a traditional Luxembourgish "Hämmelsmarsch" at its center. A "Hämmelsmarsch" is a procession of musicians inviting people to the fair. The sculpture depicts four cheerful musicians, including a drummer, a tuba player, and an accordion player, leading a procession of five sheep and two children. Water bubbles from various parts of the sculpture, including the accordion. A truly delightful fountain.
