              We recommend the Sneek Week, which always starts on the Friday before the first Saturday in August. The Sneek Week has been around since 1934 and is still the largest sailing festival on Europe's inland waters. On the first Saturday in August there is a fleet show on the quays with many musical events.

                    For a brief moment in the 15th century, Sneek was allowed to be the capital of Friesland. Logical when you are the central station for all Frisian water traffic.
