This beautiful temple has undergone various transformations throughout history, the last one taking place in the 18th century thanks to the collaboration of the residents of the town and especially Don Agustín Ordóñez Pacheco, knight of the Order of Santiago and benefactor of the village. According to tradition and legends, in the year 674 the Visigoth king Wamba laid the first stone of the hermitage to honor the Christian saint, and it was there that the original image of the Patron Saint of Moral de Calatrava was taken.
