One of the oldest churches on the Mosel. On the Paulsberg in the middle of the vineyards - located between the villages of Lieser, Maring and Noviand - the origin of this site probably dates back to pre-Christian times.
The church was first mentioned in the 13th century. The building visible today dates from the 16th century. In the Middle Ages, the pilgrims flocked here for a cross relic from near and far.

During the revolution of 1848, the Paulskirche then became the meeting place of the Democrats of Eifel and Moselle.
On October 8, 1848, around 15,000 people gathered at the Paulsberg for one of the largest rallies in the Rhine Province ...
