The "Michelwiese" offers the best views of the Michel. A great photo spot.
Located directly below the Michel and immediately behind the famous Gruner + Jahr publishing house, you'll see an unexpected green oasis within
Hamburg's Neustadt district. It represents an exception amidst the predominantly paved and asphalt surroundings, creating a small, idyllic anchor point of peace and relaxation.

After the completion of the Gruner + Jahr publishing house, an open space remained between the Michel
and the publishing house. It was landscaped and planted with trees,
and is now considered an important oasis of relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.

The entire area is characterized by a slope toward the harbor. It is interrupted by a set of stairs and ramps in the northern third, ensuring easy ascent and descent. Immediately adjacent, you'll find a large, round water basin in the center of the area.

In the southern part of the area is a large playground and lawn. The lawn offers space for all kinds of recreational activities. Everyone will find peace and relaxation here. It's also a great place for a rest during your walk.

The main church of St. Michaelis (colloquially: Michel) is a Protestant sacred building in the Neustadt district of Hamburg. The 132-meter-high tower was built between 1751 and 1786 by the city council of Ernst Georg Sonnin. After being destroyed in 1945, the Michaelis Church was rebuilt between 1947 and 1952. It is one of the city's most famous sights and one of the most important Baroque buildings
