    The Henneberger Haus is located at the entrance to the city center - not far from Elisabethenburg Palace and the famous Meininger Theater.

    Inaugurated in 1895, it is still one of the most beautiful half-timbered buildings in the city. Senior building officer Eduard Fritze, architect and chairman of the Hennebergisch antiquity research association, used the building of the object to “present its treasures in a way that would do justice to scientific and decorative purposes”. And so this house got its name.

    The construction was financed by the brewery owner at the time, Karl Zeitz, who set up an inn with the necessary ancillary rooms in the basement, which has been preserved to this day.

        Restaurant and pension in Georgstraße 2
        The unusual archway over the pedestrian path at the "Henneberger Haus" is intended to remind us that the northern city gate was located here in the Middle Ages.
        Architect Eduard Fritze planned the building for the collections of the Hennebergisch antiquity research association, of which he was chairman at the time.
        The Henneberger Haus was inaugurated in 1895 and functioned as a storage and presentation location for the association's collections until 1905.
        Construction details: rich historicizing half-timbered decoration with colorful carvings, terrace between the bleaching trenches, oriel annex over the bleaching trench, "old style tavern"
