The large hall, known as the crusaders vault, was used as living quarters for the soldiers during the Mamluk period (1250 to 1517). Today, it is used as a museum.

Kerak Castle is a well-known example of Crusader architecture, a mixture of European, Byzantine and Arabic styles. For a long time it was a ruin, while the modern city has formed around it. In 2008, however, it was largely restored. The castle contains an archeological museum displaying finds from the wider area, ranging from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. The history of the castle and town of Kerak is also presented.
