Coming from Wellawaya, the segment starts with a mix of rough concrete and unpaved residential roads that ride well enough unless it's raining. In bad weather, skip this part and go a little further south on the main road to change directly on Aluthwela Road that you'll be following to the end. It is asphalted smooth enough to skate on and sees very little traffic. The landscape is a mix of dry forests and more varied agriculture than the usual paddy fields, in a valley between steep hills. Almost completely flat and very easy to ride.
Further along the north of Udawalawe National Park, roads get bigger but still good to ride on with moderate traffic.
