The population belongs to the municipality of La Granja de San Ildefonso, it emerged in 1883, when a wood sawmill was built to exploit the forest resources of the Valsaín forests, called at that time Real Aserrío. The original buildings of the workers' village were made of adobe and pine, reinforced with grease from factory machinery to insulate the dwellings from the cold and snow. The original machines from the 19th century stopped working in 1964. The new facility features state-of-the-art technology in the treatment of wood products and has a wood museum open to the public.
