    This is the only Roman temple discovered so far in Córdoba and was part of a large provincial forum from the 1st century. The only remaining original remains of the building are its foundation, the staircase, the altar and some shafts and capitals. The current appearance corresponds to the reconstruction and interpretation project carried out in the 20th century as well as at the end of 2013.

        The Roman temple of Córdoba is located in the city of the same name, in Spain, and was discovered in 1951 during the expansion of the town hall. It is located at the angle formed by Claudio Marcelo and Capitulares streets. It is not the only temple that the city had, but it was possibly the most important of all, as well as the only one known by archaeological excavations. It is a pseudoperipteral, hexastyle and Corinthian order temple of 32 meters long by 16 wide.

          The building, a Roman temple dating to the 1st century AD, is one of the best preserved buildings from that period in the city.
          It is a prostil temple with six columns on the façade, a rectangular plan and a podium accessed by a staircase on the east side. In front of it is a large altar, also built on an artificial platform, next to which there is evidence of the existence of another altar, not yet excavated. The walls are made of sandstone blocks and some of the columns were rebuilt in the early sixties of the last century.

              The Roman Temple of Córdoba is one of the most important remains of the Roman period in the city. It is located near the Córdoba City Hall, on Claudio Marcelo Street, and was discovered in the 20th century during municipal works. Built in the 1st century AD, it belongs to the Corinthian style, characterized by tall columns with elaborately decorated capitals. The temple stood on a high podium. It had a rectangular plan with six columns at the front (hexastylic) and columns on the sides (peripteral). The decoration was made of marble and showed the sophistication typical of ceremonial buildings. Today, some remains of the original columns, parts of the podium and elements of the frieze can still be seen.

              In the 1950s, restoration work was carried out to secure the remaining structure. Some columns were reconstructed to better represent the original size and splendor.

              The temple was located in the forum of the Roman colony of Corduba, one of the most important cities in Roman Hispania. This temple is an impressive testimony to the Roman past of Cordoba. Together with other remains such as the Roman bridge and the theater, it shows the historical importance of the city in antiquity.
