of the 'Black Eagle'
The "Schwarzer Adler" inn was probably built in the 16th century. In the book of the Uttenreuth manor, it was already mentioned as an inn in 1581. It is considered to be the oldest half-timbered building in eastern Franconia. From 1780 to the Second World War there was a brewery in the building of today's hotel, and a butcher's shop in the lower part of the half-timbered building.

Between the two buildings was a dance hall that was popular far into the area. Club festivals, carnival balls and the legendary meetings of the Uttenruthia, a student association that still exists today, took place there. In the hall, one wall was completely covered by a mirror, which gave it the name "Hall of Mirrors". During the Second World War, the "Black Eagle" was not spared by the Hitler regime. Party meetings and film screenings took place in the hall. After the end of the war, the Hall of Mirrors once again experienced its most magnificent time.

There were balls, theater and concert performances, and Uttenruthia also returned to its old meeting place. The building then stood empty for more than ten years and fell into disrepair. In 1982, the municipality acquired the "Black Eagle" to make it "fly" again. The building was completely renovated under the strictest conditions.
