"The Wickeder Ostholz Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Brackel district of Dortmund, in the northeast of Wickede, bordering Unna-Massen and Kamen-Methler. It covers 45.5 hectares. ...
The nature reserve encompasses large parts of the Wickeder Ostholz, a deciduous forest with oaks, hornbeams, beeches, beeches, poplars, ashes, and sycamores, underplanted with woodland meadow-grass, as well as the Alte Märsch grassland consisting of meadows and hedgerows. The nature reserve is surrounded by intensively farmed agricultural land. This structurally diverse habitat is particularly important for birds as a breeding ground.
