The Rocky Creek Igloo was built on Frazer Rd in 1942 during WW2. It was used to host entertainment and gatherings for troops stationed on the Atherton Tablelands as part of the Pacific Defence against the Japanese from 1942-45 until Victory Pacific was declared on the 12th of August 1945.
100,000 troops trained on the Tablelands and 60,000 people were treated at the temporary war hospital also on Frazer Rd. The largest war hospital in the Southern hemisphere.
In 2017-18 it was lovingly restored by the Rotary club of Atherton with the help of local community.
