It was built after the Muslim Reconquest of Grazalema (1485) on top of an old Mudejar temple.
Simple, with gleaming whites and extraordinary beauty, it is the temple of the patron saint of Grazalema, San Atanasio, and of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, being able to contemplate in its High Altar a neoclassical temple with the image of the Incarnation and the Holy Family.

The three-aisled Iglesia de la Encarnación, built in the shape of a Latin cross on the remains of a mosque, dates back to the seventeenth century. After it was partially destroyed in the War of Independence, various changes were made when the church was rebuilt in the 18th century.
Worth seeing inside the church are the sculptures of Saint Athanasius, the Madonna del Rosario and the Holy Family from 1602, as well as a silver oil lamp from the 18th century.
