With the completion of the fish ladder, an increased population of these species is expected in the upper reaches, including Lake Tollense.

In order to achieve the objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive, funds from the EU Fisheries Fund were used for the first time. Of the approximately 320,000 euros, 75 percent were contributed by the EU.
