The Anna mill in Norby is a so-called gallery Dutch mill. This means that their actual mill construction with a rotatable cap and windmill blades stands on a solid base with a gallery around it.
It was built in 1911 and was in operation for a total of 67 years until 1978 (see: The history of the Anna mill). In 1994 it was acquired by the municipality of Rieseby and, in collaboration with the municipality and the associations, was thoroughly restored over many years and converted into a local museum (see: The local museum).
Since October 18, 1997, the Anna mill has once again been proud of its full beauty.

The gallery mill was first built here in 1880 and, since it burned down in 1910, was rebuilt afterwards, using parts of the Anna mill from Westerhever, which dates back to 1786, and others from the Green Mill from Borby. It was restored to its current beautiful form in 1994. There is a separate miller's house and a museum on the site. The garden also houses other objects worth seeing. A detour is well worth it🥰

Can only be visited on Saturdays and Sundays (7/24).
The studio was also closed on a Tuesday. No matter, it looks very nice from the outside too!

Anna Mill near Norby – Historic Windmill on the Schlei River

Anna Mill is a picturesque 19th-century Dutch windmill located in the Norby district near Rabenkirchen-Faulück, directly on the Schlei River in Schleswig-Holstein. It is a popular photo subject and a testament to the region's agricultural history.

History & Architecture

Year of Construction: 1864 (built as a gallery windmill with a compass rose and sail gates).
Function: Grain was milled here until the 1960s.
Special Feature: One of the few remaining windmills on the Schlei River.
