The Wilhelminatoren originated in 1906 on the opposite Heunsberg, at that time in the area of the municipality Oud-Valkenburg. The partly neo-Gothic building made of Limburg marl was commissioned by the Kurcommissie Falcobergia and designed by the local architect Christiaan Alfons Prevoo.

The Wilhelminatoren has a rectangular floor plan and has seven floors. The rocket-shaped tower is built of marl and has four pillars topped with carved stone falcons. The tower has pointed steel windows and is decorated with water strips, decorative wrought iron wall anchors and gargoyles. The tower is covered with an eight-sided tent roof and crowned by a large aluminum cross, which is illuminated in the evening and at night and can be seen from afar. The attic dates from the 1930s and is made of concrete. A wrought iron fence surrounds the ground floor, which still houses a catering company today.

The 30 meter high Wilhelminatoren is located on the Heunsberg, which is at a height of 145 meters NAP. The tower can be climbed and offers a panoramic view over the Geul valley and part of the Limburg mountains. When the weather is clear, you can see Aachen in Germany and Liège in Belgium from the tower.
