It is a bit hidden, but still in the center of Göttingen: the Börner quarter. In each case a sign with red letters marks the entrance. Strollers can go in from Red Street and Barfüßerstraße. Flanking the entrances in the Red Street and the Barfüßerstraße of Diabas stone sculptures, designed by Wolf Bröll, 1.70 to 1.90 meters high sculptures, each weighing about one ton.
The Börner quarter connects the two inner-city streets and offers on its backyards the opportunity to drink a little bit of coffee or a beer in the pools and sit comfortably on chairs, sofas or even in beach chairs and chat with views of old timber framing. In the evening it's over with silence: musicians regularly play in the historic courtyard.
For more than ten years, the restaurant Gaudi has been providing its guests with culinary delicacies in the Börner quarter. Also the Buddhist Center Göttingen and some service providers are located there.
