The natural area of Hoces del Esva has signs for the PR-AS 1 and PR-AS 2 short-distance trails, both circular and designed in such a way that different itineraries can be designed according to taste, physical level, time available or environmental preference. The starting point is the church of San Pedro de Paredes, where the PR-AS 1 Hoces del Esva short-distance trail begins. The first section of the road does not enter the great river canyon of Esva, it leaves San Pedro and climbs the slopes of the valley to visit the brañas vaqueiras of Adrao and Pena, interesting examples of popular architecture used until the last century by the vaqueiros of raised as a winter residence, while they waited for the good weather to take the grazing herds to the ports of Tineo, Cangas de Narcea and Somiedo. The route leaves the church along the cemetery track to the medieval bridge over the river Esva, marked with the yellow and white markings of PR-AS 1.
