The neoclassical hall church was built in round arch style in 1822-24 according to a design by the master builder Christoph Wilhelm Selig[1]. The three-story steeple to the west is older. More recent, however, is its hexagonal, slated, bell-domed tower with sound arcades that houses the belfry. To the east of the nave is a retracted choir with a three-sided finish. The sacristy was added to the choir in 1926 to the south.

The interior of the nave was redesigned in neo-baroque style in 1926/27. The side galleries were removed. The windows in the nave and in the choir received neo-baroque stained glass. The barrel vault of the nave was painted in 1970, e.g. with a depiction of Saint Michael. The neo-baroque high altar contains a sculpture with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The first organ was built by Fritz Clewing in 1904. It was replaced in 1993 by a 15-stop organ with two manuals and a pedal from Weimbs Orgelbau.
