The Brunshausen monastery

The former Brunshausen monastery was founded in the 9th century as a Benedictine monastery. It experienced an eventful history as a nunnery and monastery and as a Protestant convent.

Today there is a museum on the history of Brunshausen and the Gandersheim Monastery in the monastery church and parts of the monastery building. But not only the museum invites you to linger. Exhibitions by regional artists, lectures and workshops take place regularly in the rooms of the Brunshausen Art Circle. Two cafes with their culinary offerings can also be found in the historic buildings, as well as seminars on woodworking and a shop with selected wooden tools and exquisite whiskeys from the Harz region.

Numerous events, from jazz to various exhibitions, have made the Brunshausen Abbey known beyond the region.

Cake and milk coffee was 1 a.m.
The serving girls were super nice, even though it was stressful because all the seats were occupied. They had all the orders under control and were really on their toes.

It was really nice to sit outside under the trees and the conversations with other guests were nice too!

Since 2002, the sponsoring association "Portal zur Geschichte e.V." for the preservation, documentation and presentation of cultural credentials related to the free Reichsstift Gandersheim. In Brunshausen you can visit the monastery church and the summer palace.
