"The Niers is a river in the Lower Rhine area that runs parallel to the Maas and Rhine on the eastern side of the German-Dutch border. The banks of the Niers are a popular local recreation area, and the river itself offers numerous opportunities for water sports and natural paddling tours.
In Goch it turns west to flow into the Meuse at Gennep (Netherlands).
The headwaters of the Niers are in Kuckum, in the eastern part of the city of Erkelenz.
