A slightly different sight :) The Seismosaurus is located in the beautiful "Park im Grünen" and brings some variety to the walk.

Seismosaurus was discovered in 1979 in New Mexico, USA, in layers from the late Jurassic period. The find consisted of four neck vertebrae, most of the torso and pelvis and 24 tail vertebrae.

In 1991, the bone remains were given the scientific name Seismosaurus hallorum. This sauropod (lizard-footed dinosaur) is very similar to Diplodocus, if not identical. Based on the size of the individual vertebrae and the proportions of the torso, the total length is estimated at 32 to 49 meters and a weight of around 40 tons.

Its name "earthquake lizard" is intended to indicate that the gigantic dinosaur shook the ground as it moved. Since only parts of the skeleton were found, it is assumed that the animal was attacked by scavengers after its death and was later caught and scattered by the water during a major flood.
