"Considerate walkers" are permitted to enter the grounds until further notice. People live there - it is not a museum! There are very old, beautiful houses on the farm grounds and nearby. A foundation is responsible for its preservation.

"The Edelhof Ricklingen is the only almost completely preserved estate in Hanover. The most important buildings of the listed ensemble with the address "Am Edelhofe" in Hanover Ricklingen are the Edelhof chapel and the three-storey manor house.

The history of the Edelhof is closely linked to the history of the von Alten family. The von Altens were enfeoffed with the lands in Ricklingen at the beginning of the 14th century. From 1336 until the 21st century, the family was permanently connected to the Edelhof in Ricklingen, apart from a 100-year break in management caused by the economic turbulence caused by the Thirty Years' War in the 17th and 18th centuries."
