If you are looking for an atmospheric café to replenish your burnt sugars, be sure to stop at cycling café Blauwen Hoek. You can go there for delicious snacks and a nice cup of coffee, tea or spirits.
Cycling café Den Blauwen Hoek has been around for more than 75 years, but has only been converted into a real cycling café since the autumn of 2019. At the front of the café there is a terrace where your gaze immediately falls on a racing bike on the facade of the café.
Inside you will find many old cycling photos, miniature flandriens that are displayed and of course the race that is broadcast on TV as much as possible. At the back, the love for cycling is even more visible. Here, artist Raff Klinge from Hulshout has embellished the stone facade with an illustration of Belgian cyclists from the past and present. The original idea was to have a complete race with famous Flemish cyclists painted on the wall, but the space was too limited for that. His ode to Belgian cycling is often used by passing cyclists as a backdrop for a (group) photo.
So don't forget to admire the Street Art of the cycling icons on the rear facade.
