Founded in 1877 by 20 German families who came from the village Holtzel (or Hölzel) on the lower side (Wiesenseite) of the Volga German colonization.
Over the years, this small town became virtually extinct, leaving only a few inhabitants and the existing properties uninhabited.
In 2009, the place began to revive at the hands of different tourist enterprises, also adding the attraction as a resting place for weekends.
