The Klöppelsklus from 1716 is a former rest house from the Middle Ages at the end of the steep slope on the former Heiligenstadt - Eschwege escort road at the height of the Iberg.

The place was a place of rest for people and animals. The Klöppelsklus was built as accommodation to protect against bad weather.

Signals were given from here (a clapper on the bell) when a train of wagons started moving downhill. The oncoming wagons had to wait at the foot of the mountain, otherwise they would not be able to pass each other.

Today the Klöppelsklus is used as a chapel.

It is also the starting point for numerous hiking trails.
