Düsseldorf Kaiserswerth is located in the north of Düsseldorf, not far from the airport. The district goes back to a Benedictine monastery in the year 700, so it has been a few years under its belt. The old town is located directly on the Rhine and you can reach it very nicely via the Rhine bank cycle path. In the middle of the market square there is plenty of seating for the local restaurants and cafés when the weather is nice, so that you can enjoy a nice break here in peace. At the moment (as of May 2018), however, there is a fairly large construction site here.
The old town itself is relatively manageable. If you enter it from the Rhine and keep to the right, you will come directly to the biggest attraction: the Basilica of St. Suitbertus. The old church is really impressive.
Kaiserswerth has a really nice small town charm and is a really nice destination for your racing bike tour, not least because of its proximity to the Rhine! Here you can also polish up your cobblestone skills a bit. ;)
