        The cathedral of Assisi, the cathedral with the typical Umbrian Romanesque façade, dominates the upper part of the city. You have to climb to the top, before going towards Gualdo or Subasio, go down a typical medieval street and you arrive in the square. Always many tourists, it is good to be careful. But you can't miss a visit here.

          For many visitors to Assisi, perhaps the Churches of the Holy Sepulchre
          - of Saint Francis (see komoot.de/highlight/138624) and
          - Saint Clara (see komoot.de/highlight/2665025)
          the better known destinations. However, these two places of worship are (comparatively) more recent.
          The old, venerable and original main church of the city / diocese is of course the cathedral, the seat of the bishop. For example, Francis and Clara also received the sacrament of baptism in this cathedral, dedicated to Saint Rufino.
