The castle complex today consists of 11 buildings. Buchenau Castle is also known as Schenck Castle.
The venerable 17th-century Buchenau Castle now offers peace and relaxation as a seminar and conference hotel.

Place and homonymous castle: Buchenau is a district of the municipality Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda and has about 400 inhabitants. Buchenau is located in a valley on the northern edge of the Rhön. Through the town flows the Eitra, a tributary of the Haune, which flows in Bad Hersfeld in the Fulda. Three castles, a historic church and numerous half-timbered houses characterize the face of this place.
