The Fuchsenfeld-Hof (1922) is "only" the second municipal building of Red Vienna, but the first to be built according to the new standards of the city building authority. The new buildings should differ from the slums of the 19th century in as many aspects as possible: WC and running water in the apartment, direct light and ventilation for all living rooms, rational room layout, gas and electrical connections, direct access to every apartment from the staircase instead of endless corridors, only 50% of the building plot built up (instead of the 85% possible according to building regulations), public access to the open spaces inside the building, etc...
The architects were Heinrich Schmid and Hermann Aichinger, two of Otto Wagner's students.
