The remaining bunker Wn MKB Oye Plage is an impressive remnant of the Second World War and is part of the Atlantic Wall. This bunker is a slanted observation tower designed to resemble a church doorway, in order to mislead British anti-aircraft gunners. The tower is still slanted due to a failed attempt to destroy the building with explosives before the German troops withdrew.

The bunker is four storeys high and contains openings for observation and range finding. The internal staircases have been removed for security reasons, so that only the ground floor is accessible. Inside the bunker you can still see the remains of the iron doors and loopholes.

Former aerial observation tower of the western wall. The tower was deliberately executed church-like so as to avoid bombardment and shelling.

After the war, the tower was to be blown up - but that did not work. He tilted into inclination and so he still stands today.

From a distance you have the impression of seeing a lonely church tower in the middle of the landscape, which, however, is no longer vertical and is clearly out of plumb. Supposedly a northern French version of the famous “Leaning Tower of Pisa” in Italy. But – as so often in life – appearances can be deceiving: this building is not a Christian building, but rather a facility that was formerly used for military purposes.
