In Manerba del Garda, a small Italian town in the province of Brescia, you can admire Punta Sasso, a viewpoint that drops sheer into the lake, recalling the spectacular Norwegian fjords. The rock face is certainly smaller than the northern ones, but its beauty makes it one of the most precious pearls of Lake Garda.
Punta Sasso is located in the Riversa della Rocca e del Sasso di Manerba, an open-air museum that preserves the nature and history of a unique territory. The intent of the Reserve is to preserve the ecosystem and protect it from human intervention, for this reason various limitations have been introduced on building, hunting and all those actions that can threaten the flora and fauna of the place.
The botanical and faunal heritage is vast, in fact the space, albeit relatively circumscribed, contains a truly special variety of plant species.
The Reserve also contains the Lake Park, a unique safeguard area in Italy which extends the typical protection of coastal areas to the aquatic environment of the lake. The goal is therefore to preserve not only terrestrial but also aquatic biodiversity. A thick and luxuriant forest, carpets of fragrant flowers surrounded on one side by a body of water, while on the other by an almost thrilling overhang. It could be the description of a painting or a fairytale landscape, instead it is that of the nature that can be admired near Punta Sasso and Rocca di Manerba. This place is certainly one of the jewels that Lake Garda holds, a splendid naturalistic oasis that offers a privileged view over the entire lake.
The Punta Sasso belvedere is the ideal place to admire the 360-degree panorama, especially on a clear day, while continuing along a steep path you can reach the top of the Rocca at a height of 216 metres.
