Mont-roig Castle, or Mas Puig Tower, is an old castle now in ruins located at the top of the same name at 276 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Darnius. According to legend, the name comes from the blood of the lady of the castle and her lover, who were killed by her husband in a jealous attack. However, the name probably comes from the fact that the clay soil gives reddish hues both on the mountain and on the castle walls, which take advantage of this material. [1] The castle is visible from many points in the area. It can be accessed from the forest track that connects Darnius and Biure and just climbed on foot.
