The Brave Landsoldier Monument is one of Fredericia's most recognizable landmarks. It was erected in 1858 to commemorate the Danish victory in the Battle of Fredericia on July 6, 1849.
The statue, created by H.W. Bissen, is the first sculpture in the world dedicated to a private soldier. It depicts a Danish landsoldier with a rifle in one hand and a beech branch in the other—a symbol of victory. The statue is 3.75 meters tall and stands on a 2.5-meter-high granite pedestal, surrounded by captured mortars.
