Former castle-prison very well preserved, located below the Col d'Arclusaz, which is located above the Isère valley.
Initially (at the beginning of the 12th century) only a fortified residence, the castle was gradually enlarged until the 15th century.
The Marquis de Sade, in 1772, was a notable prisoner.
Entrance to the castle is chargeable. There are documents in different languages, which give detailed information on the different sectors.
From the parapet, we have a fantastic view of the Isère valley.

This incredible stone citadel was erected in the 11th century. It was transformed into a prison in the 16th century. The most famous of its few prisoners was the Marquis de Sade! The castle is open to the public from April to October. All the info on their website: chateau-de-miolans.com
