The church of Santa Barbara in the locality of San Nicola Varano (formerly San Nicola Imbuti) near Cagnano Varano (FG) was erected by the Ministry of Military Aviation between 1915 and 1920, the year in which the celebrations for the soldiers who occupied the village began adjacent to the San Nicola seaplane base.
The church is dedicated to God and to Saint Barbara, patroness of all those who have contact with fire, mines and firearms, and on the façade there is the inscription: "year of the Lord 1920".
