A shipwreck in the middle of Berlin.

I still remember the stories of illegal parties on the wreck as legendary, but that was a long time ago too.

But from the beginning:

In the early 1990s, a businessman restored the cargo ship built in Holland in 1959.

A luxurious passenger ship with sleeping cabins was created.
Everything was of the finest quality, a lot of mahogany wood and brass was used.

His idea was to offer river cruises on the now freely accessible waterways of the former GDR.

At first it went really well. But then the dilapidated infrastructure of real existing socialism got in his way.
Locks didn't work properly - he had to refund the fare to the passengers - the banks stopped financing - broke.

In 1996, the Water Shipping Office towed the ship into Osthafen because it believed it was blocking a public berth.

Due to the lack of power connections, a hose burst one cold night and the ship filled with water. Since then, the owner and the office have been arguing about who is actually to blame and the ship is patiently waiting for everything.

An old shipwreck in the Spree. The original name is "Dr. Ingrid Wengler” and had once sailed along the Rhine as a proud ship. There is one owner who is at odds with the Water and Shipping Authority.
Therefore, this actually beautiful barge has been eking out a miserable existence for several years in the former Berlin Wall section and Osthafen area, between the Berlin districts of Treptow/Friedsrichshain and Kreuzberg.
